How the live system works
Client submits a quote → written to the
quotes table in Supabase, with any attached documents (Invoice, Packing List, MSDS, End Use Cert) uploaded to Supabase Storage. The admin's Quote Requests page updates instantly via Realtime — no refresh needed.Admin responds → pricing and status changes write back to the same row. The moment status becomes "Quoted" or "Accepted", the client sees it update live on their screen, plus an in-app notification.
Admin converts to a shipment → creates a row in the
shipments table linked to that client, with a starter timeline in shipment_events.Live tracking → from All Shipments, admin clicks "Update" to change status/progress/add a timeline event. The client's Track page and My Shipments page update in real time, with a toast notification, no refresh required.
Quick setup
1. Mapbox (route map)
mapbox.com → sign up → Account → Tokens → copy default token → paste as
MAPBOX_TOKEN in CONFIG2. Supabase (login + live data)
supabase.com → New Project → Settings → API → copy Project URL + anon key → paste as
SUPABASE_URL + SUPABASE_KEY3. Database tables & security
In Supabase SQL Editor, run (in order):
01_schema.sql → 02_rls_policies.sql → 03_realtime_and_storage.sql (these files were shared alongside this dashboard)4. Storage bucket for documents
Supabase Dashboard → Storage → New bucket → name it exactly
documents → set Private (not public) → then run the storage policies inside 03_realtime_and_storage.sql
